For sale is this stunning Bee brooch. This 18 ct yellow gold beauty is most likely crafted in the Aesthetic period (1880-1901) during queen Victorias reign. This stunner is set with diamonds, rubies and a pearl. The details in this brooch are phenomenal. The wings are wonderfully engraved, the settings of the pearl and rubies are finished with filigree and to ensure the diamonds to sparkle more, they are set in gold covered silver so they blend in perfectly and form a bigger sparkling union.

This stunning brooch is set with twenty marvellous rose cut diamonds. These diamonds were all cut by hand and therefore unique, which makes us loving them even more. But not only the diamonds steel the show, the stunning pearl adds the right amount of class to this brooch. On top of that, two red rubies are used as the eyes of this beauty. These old cut rubies have both a diameter of approx 2,1mm. This lovely bee is not hallmarked, yet we believe it has a Belgian origin. There are 20 diamonds, all rose cut. The fourteen smallest have a diameter of approximately 2 mm, the biggest one in the tail has a diameter of approx 2,7mm and the four in the wings are approx 2,7*2,2 mm. The prettiest and biggest one forming the queens head is approx 3,4*3,4 mm.

This necklace checks of all the characteristics of the typical retro jewelry, little to no gemstones (because these were more difficult to obtain during and in the beginning after the war) and frequent use of gold. There is always a lot of gold in these jewels, in cheerful and pompous shapes. Goldsmiths showed all the manufacturing possibilities of gold by working and processing them in one jewel in different ways.

This pearl necklace is made out of two popcorn necklaces coming together through a gold hoop. At the end of both chains Two pearls lighten up the necklace. This absolute beauty is in good condition considering its age, although we have have to mention that this necklace had two repairs where the popcorn chain itself touches the gold hoop. These repairs are not that visible when worn because they where at the backside of the necklace, although there is a small colour difference due to the repair.

This retro beauty with two tassel drops is marked with a 750 mark, an Italian Makers mark from Verona from before 1970 and is crafted in 18 ct yellow gold. This necklace really has it all.
