Offered for sale is a vintage Swiss Made Certina Blue Ribbon men's watch with reference number 5801 189, dating to 1971 based on its serial number. The pillow-shaped case measures approximately 36mm across and 12mm in thickness, making it a fairly substantial watch for its era. It features a stunning creamy light brown dial with a vertically brushed finish and crosshair pattern. Luminous polished steel hands indicate the time on raised indices, while a calendar window is positioned at 3 o'clock.
The watch is powered by an automatic Certina 25-651 Calibre, known to be an absolute workhorse and working perfectly. It was lovingly restored with eye for authenticity, and has received a full service prior to being listed for sale. The movement was completely stripped down, cleaned and lubricated, and is working perfectly.
Cosmetically, the watch has clearly been worn throughout its life, but remains in good condition considering its age. The case shows normal signs of wear, most notably some pitting on the left side, likely from contact with a bracelet. Said case was cleaned but left unpolished to preserve its original finish and sharp edges. The original Certina-signed crown remains in place, and the crystal is brand new and free from scratches. The dial and hands are in good condition, with uniform signs of ageing and a few minor marks. Under certain lighting, the dial displays a multi-coloured "oil slick" reflection, likely caused by ageing of the dial finish.
