For sale is a Swiss Made Longines men's watch with reference number 6425, dating back to the 1950s. It features a gold plated case which measures 36mm in diameter and is just 10mm thick. The dial on this particular example was once finished in an off-white colour, but has developed a wonderful patina over the years: it has turned into what could best be described as a bright abstract painting with colours ranging from champagne to bronze. Gold Alpha shaped hands with black inlay indicate the time, with a sub second dial found at the 6 o'clock position. Inside the watch sits a gorgeous Longines 12.68z movement, a legendary caliber that was also used for military purposes and is therefore renowned for its reliability. The large crown is not signed, and might have been replaced at one point in its life. It comes fitted to a brand new dark brown perforated leather strap with generic gold tone buckle.
The example sold here has been worn throughout its life, but is still in good overall condition considering its age. The most notable signs of wear can be found on the lugs, where some plating has faded off. The case is unpolished and therefore in original shape, with sharp edges and curves. The aged dial is looking quite intriguing and unique.
