Longines
For sale is a Swiss Made Longines men's watch with reference number 23252, dating back to the 1940's. Even though no military markings can be found on the case, it would be no surprise that this watch has a certain military heritage: it shares quite a few design queues with its so-called "Dirty Dozen" counterparts. It features a very typical 40's military style three-piece case design with an outer diameter of around 33mm. The dial appears to be original, with a so-called open railroad track around the outside and Arabic numerals as indices. The blued steel hands are filled with lume that has developed a lovely darker patina over the years. A very typical big crown finishes off the watch.
Powering this watch is a renowned Longines 12.68n caliber, which was known for its reliability and robustness and therefore found in many military watches of that era. It is a manual winding movement with sweeping centre seconds hand, freshly serviced and ready to wear.
The example sold here has been worn throughout its life, as can clearly be seen by the scuffs and scratches to the chrome plating of the watch. This could most likely be restored, but the current original condition gives the watch even more character. The dial is has aged well, with relatively little deterioration. The lume has developed some patina and a tiny bit is missing on the hour hand. Please study the pictures in this listing well: they show the watch in the condition that it is in, with no digital enhancements to make it look better than it is. We are sure that you like honesty, and so do we. Functionally, the watch has been serviced prior to sale and is working perfectly. It comes fitted to a dark blue leather strap.
The watch comes without any paperwork or original box, but evidently we will provide a generic box to ship it to the buyer safe and sound. The item ships from Belgium and will be securely packaged and dispatched using the local postal service (BPost).
