For sale is what could be considered a "newtimer" under the Breitling chronograph watches: a Chronomat Automatic Chronometer with reference number B13050.1 dating back to the late 1990s. It features 100M water resistance, in part thanks to its screw-down crown. The watch face features a gorgeous blue dial, gold tone numerals and hands, a date window at 3 O'Clock, and chronograph complication. The stainless steel bezel surrounding the 39mm case rotates in a single direction, and features the typical gold plated Chronomat rider tabs. Inside we find a Breitling 13 Calibre, a Swiss Made automatic movement with 42 hours of power reserve based on the renowned ETA 7750, an absolute workhorse.
The example sold here has been worn throughout its life, but is still in decent overall condition. You will certainly find wear marks on the case, but no overly coarse damage: most notably some fading of the gold plating on the crown, pushers and rider tabs. The case has been cleaned, but was purposefully left unpolished to maintain its original edges, curves and finish. The sapphire crystal is free from any coarse scratches, but the anti-reflective coating shows quite a bit of wear as is usually the case. It is not very apparent in daily use but does show clearly as haze and scratches when held against the light. The dial is looking clean, with crisp text and undamaged finish. Please study the pictures in this listing well: they show the watch in the condition that it is in, with no digital enhancements to make it look better than it is. The watch is sold as full set, accompanied by both its outer and inner presentation box (of which the PU Leather lining has sadly deteriorated as usually tends to happen). Its original paperwork includes the Chronomat and Authorised Distributors booklets, as well as a Breitling service invoice dated July 2000. . The original dark brown leather strap on original deployment clasp is included, but it is fairly worn. The watch is therefore also offered with three fitting generic padded leather straps: black and brown with white contrast stitching, and full black strap.
