Offered for sale is a vintage Swiss Made Omega Seamaster men's dress watch with reference 166.001, dating back to 1969 based on its serial number. The watch features an 18k yellow gold case which measures 34mm in diameter and just under 11mm in thickness. The dial on this particular example must have once been a sunburst silver, but has developed a unique and uniform gold tone "crème brulée" patina which fades into the original colour towards the center. Polished gold tone stick shaped hands indicate the time on gold and black indices, and a date window can be found at the 3 O'clock position. Inside the watch sits a renowned Omega 565 automatic movement, which is working perfectly. The watch comes on a Hirsch Kansas black leather strap with generic gold plated buckle and quick release spring bars, ready to wear.
The example sold here has been worn, but is in decent condition considering its age. You will find wear marks on the case and lugs, but no overly coarse damage. The case has been cleaned thoroughly, but was left unpolished to maintain its original edges and curves. A brand new original Omega PX5011 plexiglass crystal was fitted, which features the Omega hallmark in the center. The crown is also original and signed with the Omega logo, but said logo is fairly worn. We can fit a generic crown and deliver the original crown separately if desired. The dial shows some stunningly uniform patina, even though it might not look that uniform in the pictures as the dial is domed: this causes bright and dark spots, while it looks very uniform in the flesh.
Functionally, the watch has received a full service prior to sale and is working perfectly. The movement was entirely disassembled, cleaned, lubricated and regulated.
