For sale is a Swiss Made Mondia "Moonlander" Automatic men's watch with reference number 96-1157-60, presumably dating back to the early 1970s. Mondia was part of the Movado-Zenith-Mondia conglomerate of reputable Swiss watch manufacturers at the time, bundling forces to conquer a larger market. This watch features a uniquely shaped cushion style case made from stainless steel, measuring 37.5x36.5mm in diameter and just over 12mm thick.
The dial on this particular example comes in a gorgeous blueish tone with purple hues in certain lighting conditions. The white and polished steel accents of the raised indices and hands contrast nicely with the dial colour, and a French day and date window can be found at the 3 O'Clock position. The date can be quickly adjusted by pushing the original crown, which is original and features the Mondia logo. Inside the watch we find a renowned Mondia signed and gorgeously finished A. Schild 1916 automatic movement, that is working perfectly.
The example sold here has been worn throughout its life, but is still in decent condition considering its age. You will certainly find wear marks on the case, but no overly coarse damage. Said case is unpolished and therefore in original shape, with sharp edges and curves. The watch face has stood the test of time fairly well, with minor and relatively uniform discolouration around the outer edge. Please study the pictures in this listing well: they show the watch in the condition that it is in, with no digital enhancements to make it look better than it is. Functionally, the watch has received a full service prior to sale and is working perfectly. The movement was entirely disassembled, cleaned, lubricated and regulated.
