For sale is this wonderful Victorian 18 K yellow gold Jet pendant. The front is decorated with many small and larger pearls set in a star shaped formation. Onyx jewelry were mostly worn in The Grand Victorian Era, between ca. 1861-1880. In this period Queen Victoria lost her beloved King Albert, therefore mourning jewellery became more popular in this period, since widows were expected to wear full mourning for two years. This would mean that they would only wore black clothes, symbolic of spiritual darkness, just like their jewelry. They had to be as black as possible.

This pendant is in good condition considering its age. Yet we like to let you know that the bail is quite thin and therefore not to wear daily/Unless you have a goldsmith adding an extra inner bail. We love every little detail of this star themed pendant and hope to find a new and warm home for it, where it will be treasured the way it should be treasured.
