This wonderful Victorian snake brooch stole our hearts the second we laid eyes on it. This antique brooch features a wonderful swirling snake. An antique cut sapphire set in the snakes head bings the right amount of colour to the brooch. The clasp is a pin with a safety hook which looks like it had a historic repair. This bar brooch is in good condition considering its age. This yellow gold brooch is tested for 18k gold.

Snakes were a symbol of love during the Victorian period. Because Queen Victoria, who was very respected and a true fashion icon during her reign in the 1800's, wore a snake ring. She received it from her Prince-to-be Albert as an engagement ring. It stands as a sign of eternal love, especially because she wore it until death.

It would not surprise you that we love everything about this lovers jewel. We like the fact that the brooch is well made, we love the many little swirls the snake makes and the lovely deep blue antique sapphire.
