We gladly present to you this stunning bunny brooch. This bar brooch is made during the Art Nouveau period by a maker with maker’s stamp ‘EQ’ who crafted it entirely out of 18K yellow gold. The brooch itself is sturdy and has a glossy finish. The bunny head itself is as sturdy as the brooch but looks very fragile because of the gorgeous details. Because the rabbit head itself is matte finished, it contrasts nicely with the shiny brooch.

The brooch itself is made out of one single thread which extends in one piece from the beginning, the pin, to the end of the hasp. Thanks to its simplicity, this striking brooch emphasize on the matt and very detailed rabbit head. The details on this head are incredible, even inside the ears the rabid were small hairs engraved.

On one side of the brooch we can read the inscription ‘”Carnaval de Venise” that refers to the Venetian Carnival which is world-famous for its elaborate masks. This carnival was first held in 1162 on the San Marco Square in honour of the victory of the Venice Republic. In the Renaissance it became an official festival. In the 17th and 18th century the festivities were kept alive to suppress the fear of the Venetians and to keep up the prestigious image of Venice to the rest of the world.

We love this brooch because we love carnival and its history but also because there is a special balance between the robust brooch and the detailed head. This brooch is eye-catching and incognito at the same time, which makes this brooch wearable for any event.
