For sale is a Swiss Made Zenith Defy Automatic men's watch with reference number 02.0430.456.460, presumably dating back to the early 1980s. It features a distinctive stainless steel case design reminiscent of earlier 1970s Defy models, measuring 34mm in width, 36mm in height and just under 11mm in thickness. Said case seamlessly flows over into the original bracelet with Zenith signed clasp. The dial on this particular example is finished in a matte black tone. Stick shaped hands indicate the time on polished steel indices, and the original central red seconds hand adds a nice touch of colour.
Inside the watch sits a high quality Zenith 45.6 movement, based on the Swiss Made ETA 2872 which is known to be an absolute workhorse. Functionally, the watch has received a full service prior to sale and is working perfectly. The movement was entirely disassembled, cleaned, lubricated and regulated. The crown was not original when we acquired the watch, and was replaced for a brand new generic crown during our service.
The example sold here has been worn throughout its life, but is still in good overall condition considering its age. You will find signs of wear on the case, but no overly coarse damage. Most notable is a minor ding to the side of the case underneath the crown. The case is unpolished and therefore in original shape, with sharp edges and curves. The dial and hands have stood the test of time well, with only minor and inconspicuous marks. The mineral crystal is brand new and free from scratches.
