Offered for sale is a vintage Swiss Made Omega Constellation Chronometer men's dress watch with reference 168.009 or 168.017, dating back to 1966 based on its serial number. This watch features a so-called "C-shaped" case with fully integrated lugs, designed by none other than Géralt Genta, who is known for designing some of the most prominent watches out today (Patek Philippe Nautilus, Audemars Piguet Royal Oak among others).
The watch features an 18k solid yellow gold case, its brushed finish contrasting nicely with the polished bezel. Said case measures 34.5 by 33mm and just under 11mm in thickness. The dial on this particular example comes in a stunning gold sunburst finish, contrasting nicely with the original white lacquered hands. Despite not having the letters "OM" for "Or Massif" at the bottom of the dial, it is actually crafted from solid 18k yellow gold as well, as proven by a hallmark on the back (seen during servicing). Omega only started using the "OM" designation a little while after this watch was released.
Black lacquered hands indicate the time on slender Onyx indices, and a calendar window can be found at the 3 O'clock position. Inside the watch sits a renowned Omega 564 automatic movement which is Chronometer Certified, and is working perfectly. The crown is original and bears the Omega logo. The watch comes on a brand new generic dark brown leather strap, but on its original solid yellow gold Omega buckle.
The example sold here has been worn, but is in good condition considering its age. You will find wear marks on the case and lugs, but no overly coarse damage. The case has been cleaned thoroughly, and appears to have been lightly polished at one point, reinstating both the brushed finish and polish to the case and bezel. The crown is original and signed with the Omega logo. The crystal is brand new yet generic as an original is very hard to find.
Functionally, the watch has received a full service prior to sale and is working perfectly. The movement was entirely disassembled, cleaned, lubricated and regulated.
