Dreffa

If you are looking for a watch that appears to have survived the apocalypse and will do so again if needed, look no further. For sale is a Swiss Made Dreffa automatic men's dive watch with reference number 27899, presumably dating back to the early 1970s. The watch features a rugged and fairly large cushion style case made from stainless steel, measuring 40x37mm in diameter and just under 12mm in thickness. This same case was also marketed by Wyler-Vetta as the "Aquarama" watch among others, and has been lovingly dubbed the "Baby Panerai" due to its resemblance with early Panerai watches.

The dial on this particular example comes in a gorgeous grey tone with sunburst finish. The polished steel accents of the raised indices and hands contrast nicely with the dial colour. The lume on the dial has discoloured to a lovely fuzzy brown over the years. The hands are original, but their lume has aged into a different greenish hue. A date window can be found at the 3 O'clock position. Surrounding the dial is a uni-directionally rotating bezel with bakelite insert. The crown is original, signed with the Dreffa logo, and can be screwed down to prevent water ingress. Inside the watch we find a renowned ETA 2772 automatic movement, which is working perfectly.

The example sold here has very much been worn throughout its life, as is apparent by the many signs of wear and age. Said case is unpolished and therefore in original shape, with sharp edges and curves. The crown has received quite a ding to its top surface. The watch face was probably blue at one time, but has discoloured to a grey tone with lovely patina all around. The colour of the bakelite bezel has started fading. As said, the watch looks like it has survived Armageddon and will happily do so once more due to its rugged construction. Please study the pictures in this listing well: they show the watch in the condition that it is in, with no digital enhancements to make it look better than it is. We are sure that you like honesty, and so do we.

Functionally, the watch has received a full service prior to sale and is working perfectly. The movement was entirely disassembled, cleaned, lubricated and regulated. The caseback gasket and crystal are brand new. The watch comes fitted to a brand new generic green NATO strap with generic stainless steel buckle, ready to wear on your next adventure. Sold as watch only: sadly no original box or paperwork are present with this piece.

Your new timepiece will be packaged with great care, and will be shipped out as fast as possible. We usually ship the same day your payment comes in, and provide full insurance as well as a tracking code for all of our packages. If you have any questions regarding the item or our services, please do not hesitate to reach out. We'll gladly assist as soon as we get the chance.
