For sale is a highly recognisable and wonderfully eccentric Swiss Made Cartier Roadster GMT XL with reference number 2722, dating back to 2004 based on its paperwork. This oversized interpretation of Cartier's iconic Roadster collection combines the brand's unmistakable design language with a practical GMT complication. The watch features an intriguing tonneau-shaped stainless steel case measuring approximately 42mm in width and 47mm in height including the integrated lugs, with water resistance up to 100m. Behind the uniquely shaped sapphire crystal sits a silver dial with classic Cartier details: elongated black Roman numerals, an inner railroad minute track and an outer 24-hour scale for the GMT function, which allows the wearer to track a second time zone.
A date window is positioned at the 3 o'clock position, magnified by the characteristic lens bubble integrated into the sapphire crystal. The oversized crown is original and allows quick adjustment of both the GMT hand and date. Inside sits a Swiss Made Cartier 8500 automatic movement, which is based on the renowned ETA 2893-2. Said movement has been thoroughly inspected by our professional watchmaker and is currently functioning correctly, with no service deemed necessary.
The example offered here has been worn throughout its life, but is still in good overall cosmetic condition. You will find minor signs of wear on the case and bracelet, but no coarse damage. The sapphire crystal appears free from scratches under normal inspection. Please study the photographs carefully, as they accurately represent the condition of the watch without digital enhancements. The watch comes fitted to its original stainless steel Cartier bracelet with signed folding clasp and convenient quick-release system. Said bracelet is currently sized for wrists up to approximately 19.5cm. In order to increase the size, spare bracelet links will have to be sourced online or at a Cartier dealership. Alternatively, the bracelet can easily be exchanged for a Cartier leather strap using the quick-release system, allowing the appearance of the watch to be changed in seconds. The watch is accompanied by its original Cartier documentation folder, including the Warranty Certificate dated December 2004, Service Warranty dated September 2005, and Instruction Manual. Sadly, the original Cartier presentation box is not included.
