For sale is a Swiss Made Omega Seamaster Calendar with reference number 2849-10 SC, dating back to the mid 1950's. The 35.5mm stainless steel case could be considered fairly oversize for its time, and features very pronounced and sturdy looking lugs. The watch face is dominated by a wonderful bronze patina that developed over the years. The original paint has slowly but surely cracked and stained into a mixture of yellow, brown and copper hues. The Omega brand name, as well as the "Seamaster Calendar" print however are still wonderfully intact. Gold tone arrowhead shapes are used as indices, and a date window can be found on the 3 O'clock position. The gold tone dauphine hands are lumed, with the lume having developed some charismatic staining as well. On the back of the case, we find the signature Hippocampus emblem linked to the Seamaster line. The crown is original and bears the Omega logo, and can be used to quickly adjust the date by moving the hands back and forth between 23-24h positions.
The watch is powered by a high quality Omega Calibre 503, an automatic movement with 20 jewels and sweep seconds hand. It has been fully serviced and is keeping time perfectly. It comes fitted to a brand new dark brown perforated leather strap, ready to wear.
The example sold here has been worn throughout its life, but is still in lovely condition considering its age. You will find some slight marks on the case when closely examining the watch. The case is unpolished and therefore in original shape, with sharp edges and curves.
