For sale is an already iconic Swiss Made timepiece: the so-called "Softwatch" made by Exaequo and inspired by the artwork of renowned Spanish surrealist painter Salvador Dali. Many of his artworks include depictions of partially molten clocks, which is exactly where this watch draws its inspiration from. It was sold in Spanish tourist shops in the 1990s, but not for long: the company was sued due to copyright infringement of the Dali name, and the watch was taken from the shelves. It has since become a collector's piece, in part also due to its reminiscence of the much higher priced and equally desired Cartier "Crash".
The oddly shaped case looks like it's melting away on the wearer's wrist. Said gold plated stainless steel case measures approximately 41 by 27mm at its highest and widest points, and just about 7.5mm in thickness. Behind the mineral crystal sits an equally funky dial, with crooked Arabic numerals as well as the "Dali" and "Softwatch" branding. The crown is original, and is shaped like a gold tone ball on the right hand side of the case. The watch is powered by a Swiss Made Ronda Quartz movement, which is working perfectly.
The example sold here has been worn throughout its life, but is still in decent condition considering its age. You will find wear marks on the case, most notably some scuffs to the top and bottom edge of the case. Said case is unpolished and therefore in original shape, but is still looking nice and shiny. There are a few marks to the crystal as well, but they aren't terribly obvious. Please study the pictures in this listing well: they show the watch in the condition that it is in, with no digital enhancements to make it look better than it is. Functionally, the watch has been checked, received a new battery, and is accurately keeping time. The watch comes with its original creamy orange strap and original gold plated buckle. Said original strap is worn however, and hasn't aged too well: the watch therefore comes with 5 generic straps in a variety of colours (black, dark blue, dark green, yellow and white) that will fit both the watch and its original buckle. This will allow the new owner to change things up from time to time. Sold as watch only: sadly no original box or paperwork are accompanying this piece.
