Up for sale is this rare and vintage Swiss Made 18K Yellow Gold, Diamond and Ruby Ladies' cocktail watch made by Alexis Barthelay, presumably dating back to the early 1980s. The watch case measures approximately 17mm in diameter, is crafted from solid 18k yellow gold, and seamlessly flows over into the refined yellow gold mesh bracelet. The case and clasp of the watch are adorned with high quality gemstones: 9 Brilliant cut and 4 Marquise cut rubies totalling approximately 1ct, as well as 19 brilliant cut diamonds totalling 0.39ct. The dial is kept to its bare minimum: a simplistic vertically brushed gold tone dial and baton shaped hands create a minimalist watch face.
Behind the solid gold case back is the beating heart of this watch: the ETA 101.001, an early quartz watch containing 2 jewels. It is incredibly small, almost as small as the battery itself. Thanks to the incorporation of this movement, the watch case can be kept as refined as it is. Adjusting the time is done through a little push button on the case back, which explains the fact that there is no crown on the side of the case.
The watch is sold as pre-owned and vintage, however it still is in good condition considering its age. You may find minor wear marks on the case and bracelet, but no coarse damage. The case has been cleaned thoroughly, but was left unpolished to maintain its original edges and curves. The sapphire crystal is brand new and free from scratches. All gemstones are original and undamaged. The dial shows signs of aging in the form of relatively uniform staining to its coating.
