Victor

Victorian brooch
€785.00

This wonderful Victorian snake brooch stole our hearts the second we laid eyes on it. This antique brooch features a wonderful swirling snake and is marked with a French horse head. This particular hors-head hallmark is a French hallmark that was set in gold jewelry between 1838 and 1919. An antique cut ruby set in the snakes head bings the right amount of colour to the brooch. This brooch is in working condition with a safety hook and pin. This lovely brooch is in very good condition considering its age, it has a little hook at the bottom to attach a small watch. On top of that it has two small loops at the top, thanks to which you can wear the brooch as a pendant.

Snakes were a symbol of love during the Victorian period. Because Queen Victoria, who was very respected and a true fashion icon during her reign in the 1800's, wore a snake ring. She received it from her Prince-to-be Albert as an engagement ring. It stands as a sign of eternal love, especially because she wore it until death.

It would not surprise you that we love everything about this lovers jewel. We like the fact that the brooch is well made, we love the many little swirls the snake makes and the lovely deep red antique ruby.
