Up for sale is an intriguing Swiss Made Omega Seamaster Quartz men's watch with reference 396.0993, dating back to 1984 based on its serial number. It features an oddly shaped stainless steel case which measures approximately 34mm in diameter and is just 8mm thick. The case design has lovingly received the nickname "Spider" due to its resemblance with a spider web. Said case seamlessly flows over into the integrated bracelet with original Omega clasp. The dial on this particular example comes in a matte black and creamy white finish with red accents all around. Lumed red stick shaped hands indicate the time, with a calendar window visible at the 6 o'clock position. Inside the watch sits a high quality Omega 1430 quartz movement, which is working perfectly.
The inside of the case back features a double reference number engraving, showing both the reference 196.0301 and 396.0993. The first reference belongs to a similar watch which would have come on an integrated rubber strap, while the latter was the correct reference for the watch on the original stainless steel integrated bracelet. Most examples of this watch can be found online listed as reference 196.0301 regardless of the accompanying bracelet, so we decided for convenience to also list it under this reference number.
The example sold here has been worn throughout its life, and is still in fair condition considering its age. You will definitely find wear marks on the case and bracelet. Said case and bracelet are unpolished and therefore in original shape, with sharp edges and curves. It should be noted that the bezel was at one point black, but this paint has faded as is often the case for this model. The crystal is brand new and free of scratches. The dial and hands are in fairly good condition still given their age, with some minor deterioration. The crown does not appear to be original. Please study the pictures in this listing well: they show the watch in the condition that it is in, with no digital enhancements to make it look better than it is.
