For sale is a Swiss Made Bex Hercules men's watch with reference number 3968, presumably dating back to the late 1960s. It features an intriguingly shaped case design with an outer diameter of around 36mm, making it fairly large for its age. The dial on this particular example comes in a silver, vertically brushed finish with beefy raised black/polished steel indices. The stick shaped polished steel hands were once filled with lume: sadly it disappeared from the minutes hand, while the hour hand has developed a lovely darker patina over the years. A very typical big crown finishes off the watch. Inside the watch beats a highly regarded Unitas 6325 manual winding movement, often referred to as the "Wehrmachtswerk" due to its use in military timepieces. In this case a gorgeously finished gold tone movement, yet very rugged and easily serviceable. The movement was disassembled, cleaned and lubricated entirely, and is accurately keeping time. The watch comes fitted to a brand new dark brown leather strap with generic stainless steel buckle.
The example sold here has been worn throughout its life, which is evident by quite a bit of wear marks to its case. The most notable damage can be found on the bottom left lug, but otherwise all other wear marks are relatively superficial. The case is unpolished and therefore in original shape. The dial is in fairly decent condition still, with minor signs of age. As mentioned before, the lume on the hands has degraded and is almost completely gone on the minute hand.
